Three undefeated teams remain on the D3 Men’s Volleyball landscape. SVU went on the road (8-hour trip) and faced four top 20 ranked teams with 2 of those teams in the top 10. They did not lose a set and have not lost a set all season. SVU has been a fixture at the #1 spot in IH’s ratings. They have the highest point differential per set in the country of teams in the top 40, better than the second-place team by 40%. They have beaten 5 nationally ranked teams convincingly. Their set record is 54-0. Loras has just one loss in 46 sets. Noting Wentworth and Stevens have 6 and 13 respectively. Their schedule strength factor is the same as SJF, Wentworth, Nichols and Hobart. They host Juniata on 3/22 and are in Arlington to face Marymount on 4/3. We expect them to run the table heading into the CVC tournament play.
Loras has been equally impressive. Just 1 set lost all season. The difference for Loras is that they must play North Central and Carthage twice for their conference. This will give both those teams the chance to challenge for the conference seeding, but obviously it will be three of the best teams in the nation duking it out in the CCIW tournament play.
Here is the updated ranking through games played Sunday, 3/3.
