Q&A

How is the Nichols season progressing compared to expectations?

“Our season so far is everything I expected and more. Coming into this year we had some big transfer players; Dylan Urbanski, Carlos Mercado, and Luis Martinez. From this I expected us to compete with a lot of the ranks team and make NCVB known among the D3 volleyball community.”

The NECC conference playoffs will be here soon. Which team do you think is the team to beat in the conference tournament and why?

“There is a lot of talent in the conference and I believe every game we have, we have to treat it as we are playing any ranked team. For us this year, we are still trying to push towards the NCAA Tournament so every game matters no matter if they are top ranked or not, in the NECC conference.”

Give us your picks for the NCAA D3 final 4!

“Throughout this whole season, the rankings haven been all over the place, but after watching games and playing against some, I think the final 4 in NCAA Tournament are going to be, Stevens, Carthage, Juniata, Springfield.”

Which player have you been most impressed by (outside of your own teammates) this season and why?

“So far throughout this season I have played against a bunch of talented players, but I gotta give it to the Marymount’s middles. When we played them last week, they had a bunch of really good kills and were everywhere on the court defensively and offensively.”

What has been your favorite part of the Bison season thus far?

“With being a little over half way through the season thus far, I gotta say my favorite part was beating Lasell. At the time we were playing them they were ranked #14 in the country and as a Nichols program it was the first win over a ranked opponent. Winning that game mean’t a lot to me because throughout the first two years of playing at Nichols, I was able to play and become close with a lot of people who intially started the program. Accomplishing something like this was amazing because, for me it was for them, the people who started the program, to see how far we have come in such a short time all because of what they started.”
