Q&A
How is the Violets season progressing compared to expectations?
“I feel like our season is pretty much matching expectations. We lost to Elmira but they have proved to be way better than most teams have expected. We have good wins vs St. John Fisher and Rutgers Newark.”
The UVC conference playoffs will be here soon. Which team do you think is the team to beat in the conference tournament and why?
“Vassar is definitely the team to beat, but I think focusing on just them would be unwise. This year, every team that makes the UVC tournament is capable of winning it, and so it has to be a game by game mentality. Vassar already boasts a bunch of great wins, including Springfield, which is why I’ve picked them as the team to beat.”
Give us your picks for the NCAA D3 final 4!
“As of right now, my top 4 for the NCAA D3 final four would have to be Stevens, Vassar, Springfield, and Carthage.”
Which player have you been most impressed by (outside of your own teammates) this season and why?
“The player I’ve been most impressed by would have to be Jarrett Anderson. His service pressure and offensive effectiveness led Springfield to sweep us early on this season. Another standout would be Alberto Mauricio. He got 31 kills I believe and led Elmira to their win in five against us. We couldn’t contain him, and despite his size he proved extremely effective.”
What has been your favorite part of the NYU season thus far?
“My favorite part of the season has been our reverse sweep vs St. Joe’s Long Island. We were down 2-0 but trusted each other to do our individual parts to bring us back in the game. It showed us that we could overcome a less than ideal situation and beat a solid team.”
