1/20/25

Ninety-Eight (98) teams have now started their D3 Men’s Volleyball season for the 2025 schedule. Just 30 teams have yet to be unveiled.

Two tri-matches highlighted today’s Monday schedule. Rutgers hosted Bard and Saint Elizabeth and Benedictine hosted UW-Steven’s Point and Augustana. MIT also played Endicott to round out the schedule.

As expected, Rutgers got two wins and Bard split. Rutgers freshman MB Massimo Rocco is a name to remember. Rocco is a power middle that is strong on the block and even stronger on the attack. The Scarlet Raiders improved to 3-1 after dropping a close match to Lasell in Atlantic City on Friday.

Benedictine won both ends of their tri-match as well. UW-Steven’s Point is playing surprisingly well and much better than their 1-3 record may indicate. They took a game from both teams. Augustana was swept by Benedictine.

MIT dropped Endicott in straight sets and is now 3-0 on the season. The Coaches Poll has MIT in the top 20 in their early season polls. IH thinks from their analysis that MIT may struggle against almost all UVC opponents, and we expect them to have greater than 12 losses. This is a much younger team and will most likely be very strong in 26 and 27. But 25 may be a bit more of a challenge for the Engineers who lost 10 players from last year’s squad including Nick Gustafson, an absolute star.

Here are the current records for all teams so far this season. We have kept our pre-season analysis in place for this presentation.
