Here is an excerpt from our first pre-season ranking issued in October of 2024.
InsideHitter has been the only ranking website to keep Southern Virginia at #1 from the pre-season through the season end. We predicted SVU to finish the season at 32-0. They are currently 34-1 with their only blemish a loss to Springfield in Springfield. We expect a different outcome on Monday night with the Cregger Center at Roanoke in Salem being so close to SVU and a home crowd influencing every point. Springfield has been a dominant team and has shown they can handle everything SVU brings to the table. But this does appear to be the year of SVU and destiny may be calling for their first National Championship. The game could be influenced by whether Sam Candland, the outstanding SVU opposite hitter, can give it a go after getting injured in set 4 Friday night. Either way, it should be an outstanding matchup.
IH is predicting a 4 set win for SVU. (25-22, 26-24, 23-25, 25-19)
