Springfield Sits Alone at the Top by a narrow margin
Springfield holds the top spot in the InsideHitter.com D3 Men’s Volleyball Rankings with a rating of 29.59, though their resume does include losses to D2 programs CUI and Vanguard. They remain undefeated at D3. Just behind them sits Stevens at No. 2 (29.46), with their only blemish coming at the hands of the top-ranked Pride themselves, a result that actually reinforces Springfield’s standing.
Carthage and Juniata are locked together at Nos. 3 and 4 with identical 29.25 ratings, both having fallen to Stevens, creating a tight cluster at the top that could shift quickly as play progresses. Cal Lutheran rounds out the top five but has dropped a match to NYU and D1 program UCSB, which reinforces their strong rating.
Further down, Vassar at No. 12 stands out for all the wrong reasons at 4-4, carrying losses to four ranked opponents including UCSC, Cal Lutheran, Springfield, and Carthage.
Southern Virginia, Cal Lutheran, Loras, NYU, Wentworth and Dominican fill out the middle of the rankings as teams with just one loss at D3.
The bottom tier of the Top 20 features MIT, Messiah, Lasell, and SUNY New Paltz, several of whom share common opponents and losses, suggesting those mid-tier matchups will be critical in shaking up the rankings before the season concludes.
