Q&A

How is the Scarlet Raiders season progressing compared to expectations?

“Our season started off a little slow I would say, we had a couple injuries and we dropped some tight matches. Now we have most of our guys back and we’re entering the conference part of our schedule. We have a chance to host the CVC tournament again which is our goal.”

What has it been like this go round knowing it’s your senior year compared to other seasons?

“Knowing this is my last year, I’ve really been trying to take advantage of that and give it my all everyday. Coach reminds us seniors to work hard in practice everyday so that at the end of the season there is nothing we wish we had done. Overall, I’m just trying to live in the moment and enjoy it.”

The CVC conference playoffs will be here soon. Which team do you think is the team to beat in the conference tournament and why?

“The CVC is again a very talented conference. I don’t think there is necessarily a team to beat, all of the teams have a conference loss so far. Everyone in the conference is solid, so it will really come down to who is playing the best during the conference tournament.”

Give us your picks for the NCAA D3 final 4!

“My final four would be Stevens, Rutgers-Newark, Vassar, and Messiah”

Which player have you been most impressed by (outside of your own teammates) this season and why?

“I gotta show some love to a fellow middle, and I’ll go with Kevin Duffy. He’s a great middle and has been the center piece of Juniata for a few years now. Love playing against the top competition in D3 and Juniata has been top 3 in the AVCA polls almost all year.”

What has been your favorite part of the Rutger’s season thus far?

“My favorite part of our season so far would be our win against New Paltz. Our opposite hitter, Andrew Zaleck went absolutely crazy with 39 kills that night in a 5 set thriller. It’s our only win against a ranked opponent this year and it was a great match to play in. Nothing better than walking away with the W!!”
