Background:
Matt is a 6’3″ setter from Chesapeake, VA. He is freshman setter for Randolph-Macon. He played club volleyball for Coastal Virginia and went to Hickory high school.
Randolph-Macon is currently the #28 team in the country for NCAA men’s volleyball in the latest IH ranking on 3/12/23.

How is the Yellow Jacket’s season progressing compared to expectations?
“The season has been really fun and competitive we have are up and downs, but it’s not over yet and we can still meet expectations being 2-0 in the conference.”
Tell us about the trials of being a freshman setter and leader.
“Coming in as a freshman and taking the leadership role as a setter I knew I’d have to gain the trust of teammates and coaches in order to be successful.”
The CVC conference playoffs will be here soon. Which team do you think is the team to beat in the conference tournament and why?
“I feel like we are the team to beat but everyone would say the same thing about their team so I will say Southern Virginia is a really competitive team and would be the team to beat.”

Which player have you been most impressed by (outside of your own teammates) this season and why?
“I have been most impressed with Christian Sheaffer. Playing against him in club and onto college has been fun and he always finds a way to hype his team up.”
What has been your favorite part of the Monarch’s season thus far?
“My favorite part of the season was the game against SVU at are home gym the crowd we had and the way our team played was the most fun I’ve had so far.”
