Some notes from today’s matches:

Southern Virginia was able to finish the season undefeated at 26-0. They lost just 3 sets all season. IH has had SVU as their number one team since January 28th.

Springfield’s losses to Eastern Nazarene, MIT, and Vassar this week leaves them at 18-6 overall. In all likelihood, they will still get a bid to the tourney. The Pride have lost 5 of their last 10 and 3 of their last 4.

NYU had a great finish with wins over Misericordia, St. John Fisher, and Nazareth. They take the #2 seed in the UVC and are riding a 6-game win streak. Watch out for the Violets!!! Vassar wins the UVC and St. John Fisher drops to #3.

Loras survived a 5-set thriller with North Central to take the CCIW #1 seed. Carthage #2 remains on a hot streak by knocking off Augustana who gets seed #3. This will be one of the most competitive CCIW tournaments of all time. Any of the 4 teams could come away with a win. Loras finished with just one loss for the season, which was to Carthage.

Kudos to these conference regular season champions: Saint Vincent (AMCC), Loras (CCIW), SVU (CVC), Baruch (CUNYAC), Wentworth (GNAC), Stevens (MAC), Wittenberg (MCVL), Nichols (NECC), Dominican (NECC), St. Joe’s Long Island (SKYLINE), Lancaster Bible (United East), and Vassar (UVC).

St Elizabeth was eliminated from the United East playoffs as Wilson College surged past them for the final spot. Valley Forge, St. E’s, and Wilson all finished 3-3 in conference play.

The following teams have completed their seasons and have not qualified for conference playoffs:

Hilbert, Wells, Mount Aloysius, Carlow, Illinois Wesleyan, North Park, Kean, Elizabethtown, Roanoke, Elms, Dean, Fisher, Bethany, Maranatha, Averett, Houghton, Warren Wilson, Immaculata, Chatham, Simpson, Neumann, Virginia Wesleyan, Drew, Wilkes, UW-Steven’s Point, Buffalo State, Widener, King’s, Eastern, Hood, Wabash, Adrian, Fontbonne, Mount St. Joseph, Calvin, Olivet, NVU Johnson, Bard, St. Norbert, Edgewood, Concordia Chicago, Rockford, Wisconsin Lutheran, Sarah Lawrence, SUNY Old Westbury, St, Joe’s Brooklyn, Bryn Athyn, Pratt, St, Elizabeth, Elmira, and surprisingly SUNY New Paltz.

Here is the tournament information for the NECC. Championship – New England Volleyball Conference (nevcvolleyball.com) We don’t have an answer as why the NECC is excluded from the automatic bid process. Nichols is in a position to take an independent slot for sure. This conference appears stronger than a few others. Email us if you have info on this and we will share.

Roughly 66 teams remain. That number will drop in half by the end of this upcoming week. Conference finals will mostly be next weekend, and the field will drop to 16 teams by next Monday.

The NCAA seed selections will occur on Monday, April 15th.
