We are just days away from “Seed & Selection” day for the Men’s Volleyball D3 Championship Tournament. We will find out on Monday who the remaining 16 teams will be that will fight for a national championship. Before that decision is made on Monday, we will know at least 11 of the participants. Baruch is the first team to enter the tourney with their win over Hunter to take the CUNYAC crown.

We have updated our projected bracketology and have made some predictions for the weekend results as well as projected seeds and regions. InsideHitter.com is 31-6 so far in conference playoff matches using our rating system. Here are our game predictions for tomorrow’s matches:

Here is the rest of our predictions for the NCAA tourney grid. One more update tomorrow night before the big selection show on Monday!!

Good luck to all players and coaches on Saturday!

Let’s take a look at the 6 games we lost:

Nazareth taking down St. John Fisher was very unexpected. Nazareth’s rating took a beating during Owen Wicken’s injury outage, but SJF has been in our top 10 for almost the entire season. We will see if their resume’ is enough for NCAA inclusion. Right now, we have them missing the cut in favor of Juniata by the slightest of margins.

The Lasell loss to Rivier was an upset in our books. Lasell was on the brink of being a top 15 team all season. Rivier has put together a nice streak during the regular season end winning 7 of their last 8 with their only loss to Wentworth. They have lost both matches to Wentworth this season who they will face in the finals tomorrow.

We had Mount Saint Vincent as a 4-rating point difference against SUNY Purchase but the Panthers prevailed before being eliminated in the semi-finals.

We expected Stevenson to take down Arcadia in the MAC play-in game. Arcadia took care of business in 5 sets.

Illinois Tech also defied our rating system by taking down Benedictine in first round action in the NACC.

The Penn State battle between Altoona and Behrend showed a rating differential of .042 with Altoona having the rating advantage. Behrend won this battle before eliminated in round 2.

We did pick Trine’s win over Baldwin Wallace and Eastern Mennonite’s win over Randolph-Macon.
