Over the next few weeks and leading up to the start of the 2025 D3 Men’s college volleyball season, InsideHitter.com will be sharing many of the details collected from its player survey administered in May 2024. We received 270 responses and based on the total population of players, a 5% error rate, and a 50 % population proportion, we have a 93% confidence level in the accuracy of our survey results.
We can ask fans or coaches about which players are the best or left a major impression on them. But the best approach in our opinion is to ask the players themselves. When they are deep in the trenches of a match, which player stood out the most. Our sample included players from all over the country, freshman through to seniors, and representing all conferences and independents.
The results of our survey are as follows. Here is our Survey Top 10:
- Andrew Kim (Hobart) 14%
- Corey Mayotte (Loras) 6%
- Jacob LaBouliere (Wentworth) 4%
- Pat Wing (SUNY NP) 4%
- Owen Wickens (Nazareth) 3%
- Jack Normandin (Nichols) 3%
- Dorian Fiorenza (Loras) 3%
- Ry Kagen (NYU) 2%
- Spencer Herman (Concordia Wisconsin) 2%
- Derek Au (Rutgers) 2%
Multiple Votes 8%
Single Votes 47%
Congratulations to Andrew Kim of Hobart as he garnered 14% of the overall votes. His contributions to the Statesmen in their first year of existence were outstanding. After his All-American performance at Vassar, his transition to first year program Hobart as a grad student was a great example of leadership and skill. In 2024, he played 27 matches and over 90 sets put down 511 kills, averaging 5.68 kills per set while hitting a whopping .401. He also added 165 digs along with 37 total blocks and 46 service aces. His performances over the year were certainly recognized by the players throughout the nation.

Corey Mayotte of Loras finished second in the survey, gathering 6% of the overall vote. Corey and Dorian Fiorenza both finished in the top 10 as a tribute to the remarkable season Loras had overall. Jacob LaBouliere of Wentworth was third in the voting and Pat Wing from New Paltz also impressed.
Many of the votes were for players who only received one vote. This population represented almost half of the votes.
We would also like recognize players who received multiple votes but did not get in the top 10 for the survey. Jordan Cooper, Kody Rogan, Logan Irby, Luke Hoffman, Max Sellers, Michael Yurk, Taylor Marks, Tim Flanagan, Connor Foxwell, Christian Schaffer, and Alejandro Garcia Fernandez all received multiple votes in the survey.
Congratulations to all players mentioned. Many are returning for 2025 and we look forward to watching you again this season.
