Baruch College has appointed a new leader to guide its men’s volleyball program into the next chapter. Brady Ambro, a 2017 Baruch graduate and former standout player, has been named Head Coach of the Bearcats for the 2026 season. This is Ambro’s first year at the helm, and his deep roots within the program make him a perfect fit for a team that has established itself as a regional power in Division III volleyball.

Ambro brings firsthand experience of what it takes to win at Baruch. As an outside hitter from 2013 through 2016, he helped the Bearcats capture multiple City University of New York Athletic Conference titles and make NCAA Tournament runs, including a memorable appearance in the 2013 Final Four in Rochester. During his playing career he earned team MVP honors, served as captain, received the Baruch College Helen Belden Sportsmanship Award and was named a CUNYAC First Team All Star in 2016.
The Bearcats have been among the most consistent programs in the conference and beyond in recent seasons. In 2025 Baruch captured its fifth straight CUNYAC Championship and secured an automatic NCAA Tournament berth with a thrilling five-set win over Hunter College in the CUNYAC final. The team then won its opening round match in the NCAA Division III Tournament before reaching the second round, marking another strong postseason showing.
Ambro’s coaching background includes two seasons as an assistant with Baruch following his playing career, where he began developing his coaching philosophy and building relationships with student-athletes. He also spent time coaching with the International Volleyball Club, working with young players and further sharpening his teaching skills before returning to lead his alma mater.
Baruch Athletics Director Heather MacCulloch highlighted Ambro’s combination of experience, passion and familiarity with the institution. His familiarity with the culture of Bearcat volleyball is expected to help him quickly establish a strong rapport with returning players and new recruits alike.
As Ambro steps into his first season as head coach, expectations are high for the Bearcats. With a talented roster that helped secure recent conference titles and NCAA appearances, Baruch enters the 2026 campaign poised to continue at the forefront of CUNYAC volleyball. Fans and alumni will be watching to see how a homegrown leader guides the next generation of Bearcats.
