Under Head Coach Jamie Peterson, now in his first full year after a successful interim stint in 2025, the program carries momentum from a 20-11 record and a second-place conference finish. Peterson’s steady guidance positions the Tigers as a team with depth, experience, and exciting potential.

Top performers set a high bar:

  • Michael Yurk (then-junior OH) paced the attack with 315 kills (3.35 per set).
  • Eli Halverson (then-junior OH) added 242 kills (2.55 per set) and led with 27 service aces.

Roster Evolution: Experience Meets Fresh Energy

Wittenberg says goodbye to several contributors who helped secure the 20 wins, including senior libero Aaron Miller, setter Sam Richardson, libero Dominic Smith, and high-impact freshman middle Adam Blair. Their efforts strengthened the program’s culture and competitive edge.

The returning nucleus forms a veteran-heavy group primed for leadership:

Attack Leaders

  • Senior OH Michael Yurk (6’5″): Proven scorer with 315 kills in 2025, ready for another dominant year.
  • Senior OH Eli Halverson (6’4″): Dynamic all-around threat with 242 kills and team-best serving.

Front-Row Veterans

  • Senior MBs Moose Harper (6’4″) and Greg Efaw (6’4″): Bring height and blocking reliability.
  • Junior MB Reese Monnin (6’2″): Consistent middle production.
  • Sophomore Opp Zach Newton (6’4″): Adds power with prior kill contributions.

New Faces Bringing Immediate Impact

The Tigers enhance the roster with targeted additions that blend collegiate experience and promising youth:

  • Jake Schawo-McAlister (Graduate Setter, 6’2″): Transfers from Westminster College with proven distribution skills and maturity to compete right away.
  • Noah Vencill (Freshman Libero, 5’10”): Quick defender from Edgewood High School, adding speed and passing to the back row.
  • Kyle Roney (Freshman OH, 6’1″): Historic signee from Madison Consolidated’s emerging program; multi-sport athlete with Academic All-State honors.
  • Landon Wood (Freshman Opposite, 6’3″): Right-side power from St. Xavier’s 2025 KHSAA state championship team, bringing postseason experience and offensive punch.

These newcomers deepen competition at setter, libero, and the pins while introducing valuable height and athleticism.

What Lies Ahead: A Season of Promise

Coach Peterson inherits a roster rich in returning production from players like Yurk, Halverson, Hill, and Monnin, complemented by strategic additions that elevate depth and versatility. With national poll votes already recognizing the Tigers’ strength, Wittenberg looks poised to contend in the MCVL, challenge top opponents, and pursue postseason success. This blend of veteran leadership, emerging talent, and fresh contributors creates an exciting outlook for Division III men’s volleyball in 2026.
